Default Oil overfill sound

I just did my first oil change on a 107 build and accidentally put 4 quarts in since that's what I used when I rebuilt the motor. (I had the cases out and apart as well) Anyway, I had already put 100+ hard miles on it before realizing I overfilled it. (Oil all over the right side from the air cleaner) I drained a 1/2 quart or so to bring the level to normal but now I'm hearing this "whirring" type sound at idle that wasn't there before and the oil on the dipstick is pretty bubbly looking. Could anything have been damaged? It sounds like it's coming from the primary side. Other than the sound, the bike runs strong and no other issues but this is a sound I've never heard before. I trust you guys more than the dealer so this is my starting point. Hope I didn't damage anything...
BTW, ALL internal components were replaced during the build, EVERYTHING!
The first 1k miles had been fine until this oil change and the removed oil still looked new with no shavings on the plug.

4 qts would have damaged nothing. You have oil blowby which is common on built motors when the proper precautions are not taken. What tensioner is in the primary, stock, Hayden, etc? How's your inner primary bearing?

What kind of air filter are you using?

I would check to see if it is saturated and clean or replace if it a paper element.May not hurt to remove it and wipe of any oil that is behind it.

Check... I did that already and looked good but may clean and re-oil it, though it was just done 1k miles ago. It's a K&N

Has anyone experienced this sound? It's hard to explain but kinda whirring/chirping that comes and goes. It's not a solid continuous sound. I just wonder if it'll go away or if there's some kind if damage. Like I said, all was great until the overfill of oil. Even when it was first overfilled I didn't hear it. Just after the 100 mile ride which included some higher speed highway runs. Since lowering the oil level I haven't had any more oil spray from the AC. Really puzzled...

I had a whirring sound that developed on my '10 FLHX at about 25k miles. The inner primary bearing race on the trans main shaft had developed some scarring. I replaced the bearing, seal and race and the noise went away. That race was a PITA to get off. I had to trailer my bike to a shop to pull the race off and install the new one. Frustrating exercise.

I don't believe the sound is related to overfilling the oil. Could just be a coincidence.

Overfilling with oil just makes an oily mess. No damage. Are you sure all your exhaust clamps and brackets are good and tight? Loose baffle? Loose heat shield? I once had a baffle that made that kind of noise. Took it out and tightened it up. Noise went away.

As long as you have the filter off. Maybe clean the intake.

Hmmmm... Good point! I did notice my left slip-on is just barely loose but it was that way before the sound. Maybe it's loosened even more. I'll check that when I get home today.
