Looks like I'll need to do it soon. Actually...need to do it before heading to Myrtle Beach in two weeks. The thing that gets me is the difference in quotes from dealers. 1st dealer quote: $567, 2nd dealer: $408, 3rd dealer: $700! My indy quoted me around $500.
I would tell you to have your dealer contact the MOCO. I went to two dealers, the one where I bought my bike who wouldn't do anything to help. Went to another dealer an hour away and they contacted the MOCO and got them to spring for the parts. My out of pocket was only labor. I have an 08 Ultra and it had 47000 miles at the time. i did not purchase any warrenty either. The MOCO will help out if the dealer is willing to make the call. Mine was repaired in February of 2013. I see your from Cary NC. The dealer I used was Hometown HD in Winterville, NC. The guy with 3 dealerships (Smithfield, Durham and Goldsboro woundn't do anything)

Have you considered doing it yourself? There's nothing to it and there are some great posts on here w/ pictures to help. My local stealer has a 20% off Friday night special on parts. Compensator costs about $165 with discount.
Thanks for the tip djaudette. I may try that. I didn't bother to call "you know who" that you mentioned. I'll give Hometown a call. Rockajet1...I'm a fair wrench...but don't know if I'd want to tackle this one.

I just pulled my gearset, never been in the primary this far or had my bike tore down to this point.
If you consider yourself a fair wrench, I would think it shouldn't be that complicated for you, but remember the comp is going to set you back 250.00 so a 400.00 price tag at a dealer isn't that bad.
I bought a SE Comp and am considering selling it as there is no issues with my stock Comp. If you need one ASAP PM me

Curious to know how you came to that conclusion.I am concerned about mine as well.20010FLHTK It sucks trying to take off on the slightest uphill grade and bangs at start up. Thanks for any input.

Ask for Gary at Hometown. really great guy to work with.
DJ...already spoke with Gary. Thanks. Sleigh...on occasion...when I have been riding a while and motor is hot, I stop for gas or very short period...when I try to restart...grinding sound in the primary and then a LOUD bang out the exhaust. But only when engine temp is hot. Otherwise though...I haven't felt any lag in the drive train like others have experienced.

Your welcome and good luck with it. Hope he takes care of you. He squared me away, won't go anywhere else now. They have a customer for life.
