Default Well, it was bound to happen...

.. got rear-ended by punk a** teenager at a stop sign tonight. Physically, I'm fine. It happened in a shopping center. It pushed me out into the intersection. I immediately dismounted to examine the damage and have a word with the punk. "Did it do any damage?", he asked. Uh, yeah, my rear fender is caved in. I told him I would need his insurance information but that I needed to get my bike out of the intersection first. As I pulled into a parking spot, the POS sped off. By the time I got my bike started and backed out to chase him, he was gone. I'm usually more observant in these situations. I did look back and tried to get his license plate number but couldn't read it. I'm just kicking myself for not getting his plate number before moving my bike.

On a related topic, is it not possible to find the price of a stock, painted, Red Hot Sunglow rear fender for a 2010 FLHX? The only rear fender setup I could find was the CVO in primer. I just want to go back stock. My collision, hit-and-run deductible is $1000. Fender is bent in and license plate bracket is cracked. The fender trim seems okay but I don't know about the parts I can't see. I'm just curious if this is more or less than $1000. Thanks for letting me rant and vent.

He probably left to get his insurance card and file a police report for you.

No seriously, glad you're okay. I dread the day it happens to me. If you remember the goofball's car, maybe you'll see him again. But I'd still file with your insurance company and the police.

Glad you're OK, sorry about your ride and the Karma Train will come for the punk and there will be a special seat just for him.

Glad you're okay. Any chance there was an intersection camera?

Sorry to hear of your accident. But glad your ok. I had the same thing happen to me recently in my car. I got rear ended by a POS at a red light. I got out and talked with him, told him that we would continue the conversation in a parking lot that was near. He ran. From now on I'm going to take a picture first of the offending vehicles license plate on my cell phone before I do anything.

Sorry about your accident. Call your insurance provider and have them take care of it. About twenty years ago i was at a intersection stopped at a red light and get rear ended by this punk, i get out to speak to this fine young gentleman when the light turned green, so to keep traffic flowing we decided to pull over at the corner gas station across the intersection. I drive across and the punk makes a right turn and sped off. Screw me, i rememberd this guys car. About four to five months go by and guess what, i see the same car parked at a burger joint. Yup, say hello to my friend KARMA. So you may run across the upstanding citizen sooner than you think.

That sucks. But glad you are ok.

Even if you plan to do the work yourself, you should get a quote from a dealership on putting everything back to original, including the bracing under your fender that is certainly bent.

It will be well over $1000

Also, if you have not already, get a police report...they might even have some traffic cameras or surrounding business security cameras that have the POS on "film".
