Default Internal control wiring on Limited

I'm about to do a handlebar swap on my FLHTK. I noticed that the controls wiring all seems to be external. So are the only wires in the bars from the heated grips and TBW?

I'm going for KW +2 Sweepers. They're drilled and dimpled

I have a '13 Limited, what about the clutch cable length?

Is a bar change really that much better?

If you want to keep the clutch cable through the fairing, the KW +2 Sweepers need a longer cable.(for them about a +4 I believe) My plan is to run the stock cable outside the fairing for this season. I'll change it out on my next tranny fluid change at the end of the year. It's a bit of a PITA, and I want the bars on as soon as possible. All the other wires and lines will work according to folks who have done these bars on batwings.

@Scrmnyvtins - I need to make this bar change. The stock bars are just killing me. I'm leaning forward and hanging on em and my upper back and shoulders are on fire after about an hour! The KW bars bring the controls a few inches closer and a bit higher and that's all I need. The other big plus to them is the wrist angle. Most reduced reach bars have a turned-in angle (like a wheelbarrow) that also is tough on your arms and shoulders. The KW's have a fantastic relaxed angle. They're also a few inches wider.

@Blue Duck - I totally dig the painted inner fairing on your bike! I really want to do this! I'll opt for the Merlot instead of the red I think. I hate the flat black plastic look of the stock fairing. Looks really cheap for a $25,000 motorcycle.

Thanks for the speedy reply on the wiring!!! Are your heated grips still alive? All I keep hearing is about how they fail and die. Hope mine hang on for a while.

Changed my 2011 Limited to the KW 2+2 Sweepers this winter. Only thing needed was the clutch cable. I went ahead and put a +4 Magnum black pearl on mine but could probably have been a bit shorter. The brake line was a bit tight on my 2+2 but did go back in original location. I also replaced the TBW with the SE version to get rid of the connector inside the bar but it did not appear to be necessary unless you are moving wiring to inside the bars. These bars almost feel too far back but is more comfortable riding. Really changes the slow speed handling and takes a little practice to get used to it.

Could you send me a link to these bars. After reading your concerns and what you are looking for as an end result, I am very interested in these bars. I also bought to HD reduced reach bars until I realized the new grip angel.

The painted inner makes a big difference. I've done a few more things like chrome switch controls, Magnum Shielding cables. Still have a few more things to do. My only regret is not having done 1 1/4" bars. My heated grips work fine. Have not had a problem with them.

@ Rosey - There's a whole bunch of threads about these bars and many have pics and other comments. Those are all what got me looking at em and sold me on the fit. Do a quick search on Kromewerks +2 Sweepers. The +2's are further back with a relaxed wrist angle and are about stock height. The 2+2's are the same but about 2" higher. The reviews on folks who've done these are very very good. Especially to fix the sore back/shoulders reach issues.

@ Blue Duck - The scoot looks awesome! Thanks for the close up pic!! So it looks like you were able to get both the heated grip/TBW AND the control cables all in the bars? I didn't think it was possible! It looks so clean and your braided lines are great!! Nice work!!

If you really want to see what these bars look like compared to stock EG bars, look at post #25 in this thread. there's also some installed shots earlier in the thread
