Question 2008 model a one off?

Just wondering;
When it comes to after market parts for my 2008 FLHRCi, Road King Classic, I feel like certain things are more attainable for other model years. Like when I look for different seats; I find that there are a lot of seats for the '97-'07 model years, and I know that in '09 they went to a wider fender to accomodate the wider rear tire which also meant some mods to the frame.
So I know that '09 and later seats won't work for me and all those seats labelled '97-'07 seem to not include the '08.
So, is the '08 a sort of "stand alone" model year?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you;
Dan

the 08 uses the same mount at the front of the seat as the 09+...and as you know the 09+ frame is wider in the rear section...

SOME 09+ seats will mount on the 08 frame, but a test fit is a smart idea before buying

other year seats may be adapted to the 08 frame, depending on the construction or the seat itself.

i bet some 2008 owners will be able to share their tricks.

Thanks Mike, appreciate the response.
Hopefully you're right and I get some feedback from other '08 owners.
Thanks again;

At this point, are you just interested in seat options, or is this a general question for what series of cosmetic, mechanical, and upgrade parts will and won't fit?

The parts are all available, you just need to understand what you have. Basically anything frame-related is pre 09 and everything else is 08 and up. It's a misconception that everything changed in 09- the only things changed were frame related. The vast number of changes happened in 08 such as the six speed, tbw, electronic cruse, ids, etims, six gallon tank, dash, etc.

I appreciate the responses.
I do realize that many things are interchangable from '07 -'11 as far as motor, tranny etc. and I know that I have the larger 6 gallon tank and throttle by wire, but I guess I was mostly focusing on the seat that I'd like to find.
Anyway, I know I could go to JP Cycles and order something, but was just wondering if seats from any other year would fit without modifications because it seems to me that '08 might be unique as far as fitting a seat.
Don't wanna spend too much time on this, just curious.
Again, thanks for the responses.

I picked up a Corbin leather, heated, Solo seat with riders back rest for a Road King 2008 model.

I thought it would fit my scoot, but it didn't.

Any interest, PM me.

Thanks,

YB

Yes 08 is a one off so to speak. However, most seats you will find fit 08 and later.
