Default trailer wiring harnesses

I have a 99 RKC and want to pull a small trailer that I currently already use behind my Yamaha Royal Star (soon to be sold). Is there a special wiring harness that I need to use for a Harley roadking? Saw some on Ebay but wanted to ask someone with experience before I just buy one. Thx. LR

I use a flat trailer plug kit from pep boys.

get whatever plug matches your trailer and splice in under the seat to the wiring which runs into the rear fender

so about $12

black is ground
red is brake
blue is run
violet is left
brown is right

I used the Kuryakyn on my 99 Heritage and it worked great. Going with it again when I install the hitch on my Ultra. Plug and play into the wiring harness, and tie your trailer wiring into it without cutting into your harness. If you want to remove it later, you didn't mess with your original wiring.

I pull a bushtec trailer and use their harness, it's all plug in no cutting into the wires. takes longer to read the directions then do the work.
