I have been thinking about the fork deflectors myself, but wondered if there is any effect on air across the engine. Is the recommendation for removing during the summer in Texas because of the potential excess heat?

I put one on my EGC and it was a huge difference, it stopped alot of the wind coming up between the gas tank tank. Money well spent!

Yes, In speaking with my mechanic the aero dynamics force air away from the front cylinder head. It makes sense to me as the air has to go somewhere. most of it is diverted down under the engine. During the winter months it real easy to install. For the 5 minutes it takes to pull if off during the summer time at 100 degrees out here yea I'll pull it off.

Worked good on my road kings, it keeps rain from swirling behind the windshield and redirects airflow down below the tank. I take it off in summer just to feel more airflow

It definitely helps, but not as much as the lowers on the forks. I take mine off in the summer to allow better air flow thru the forks to the motor, and leave my fork lowers in place to stop the buffeting.
