if the fuel pump starts and runs for a few seconds and turns off it is building pressure, also the fuel line when removed should only let out a couple of drops of gas...stupid question, is there gas in the bike???
Not so. The computer runs the pump for a few seconds when you turn on the ignition & then shuts off. It does not mean there is pressure. Check inside the tank & listen for gurgling sounds, you might have a bad hose inside the tank (some what common problem on certain years). If it built up pressure it would spray fuel when you loosen up the line. As for a stupid question, I know a guy that is a mechanic that started to tear down his lawn mower because it quit, then his son walked up & asked if it was out of gas (it was).

Not on new bikes! Fuel has a quick disconnect. You only get a few drops! My guess is injectors mixed up!

from what I understand, the fuel pump turns on to build up the pressure needed to provide proper fuel amounts to the injectors and then turns off at the proper pressure, if it does not build up pressure it will continue to run until it does, so if there is a leak inside of the tank on the fuel line it will keep pumping because it will not build up pressure (I think it is around 50 psi)...if the hose going to the fuel injectors is not allowing fuel out of the tank (bad connection) the fuel pump will still shut off, as the pump still senses the build of pressure in the lines inside of the tank..
also if the injector are wired in reverse it will still run (not very well) so I would still be looking at the fuel connection at the tank or the power to the injectors...
A few thoughts for you. Check your fuel pump electrical connection, check your fuel line at both ends, Check your tank vent tube, make sure it's not kinked, check your cross over hose.
Switched wires at injectors, nothing. No diagnostic codes. I really believe I am not getting fuel through that quick disconnect at the tank. Its made up correctly, but I can tell if fuel is getting through it. And yes, there is plenty of fuel in the tank. Not sure where to go from here. And I can hear the pump running so its not a connection to the pump.
