Yeah Rock I've heard that same story from a bunch of guys. The Comp sprockets are ****, plain and simple. I guess I've been pretty lucky with mine. I'm pushing 80k miles and never had a problem before now other than the hotstart issues and I'm still not convinced that's not the starter going bad (again) The fix for 08 and earlier bikes used to be to replace the stock POS with the SE POS, it was suposed to be a beefier assembly, After 09 that became the stock part and from all I'm hearing it hasn't really fixed the problem. The sad part is the MOCO is aware of the problem and rather than owning up to it they play an odds game because they know that most of the time the part is going to fail AFTER the warranty expires. Well done getting on record. Give the bike a thurough check before I start taking stuff apart but I'm fairly certain that's gonna be my problem.
I pitched such a bitch at the dealership that they finally agreed to open it up and remove the compensator assembly and inspect it if I would pay for fluids and gasket. They took it apart and, of course, everything was "within specs". Then I asked them if I installed a new compensator and it fixed the clunk, would they pay for the part. Of course they wouldn't go for that. If Victory's just weren't so damned ugly...............
