Don't know how tall you are but the LRS Poly 12" recurve is perfect.

Put the 12 on and ride, take the shorter one with you. As you know they are easy to change

This link doesn't work for me but yes, 90% of buffeting comes from down under. +1 on fork mounted deflectors. I have a set and they eliminated buffeting all together.

+1 on JCA. I usually run a HD 10" wind splitter, works great and can see over, but when I'm on a long trip I pull out the
http://www.customflhtwindshields.net/ 14" clear flat top !
Comfort before looks when doing serious biking. I laugh at Bugs, rain, wind fatigue, Birds, Stones, road debris, etc. It's like a big bay window !
P.S. Especially with a lot of night driving, your lights are going to attract every dam bug in the area. If you don't have lowers and/or JCAs on with a nice Big Windshield, your going to have bugs in your hair, in your helmet, in your ears, up your sleeves, in your belly button, up your pant legs , in your socks, down your pants crawling down the crack of your *** trying to find your ***** ! They have more bugs than money in the south.

I just returned from a 4 day trip with a home-made windshield.

I prefer stock like you for the height..
It was a 12 X 24 lexan and the top was about 9 1/2 and flat. it worked very well.
it was kind of an experiment but I'll be making another slightly wider to stick out towards the grips.

Already have and LRS med tint in 9". To short to stop the buffeting, to tall (because of tint) to look over when relaxed at night.
