Have to concur with +1's on the JES deflectors. Had them on the 01 UC. Got destroyed in the cager tangle and have yet to order for the 07. Took away all that ugly air under the tank. Was running with a National Cycle V-Stream 8" which I kept.
I realize this is an older topic but here's what I use.
Harley Davidson 10” Lightly Smoked Electra GlideŽ Low Windshield #58303-96 $124.95 Harley had it in stock.
I'm able to look over the windshield but still gives good protection from the wind. I did a 3,200 mile ride last year using this windshield and loved it. I'm 5'10" tall and sit up straight using a driver's backrest.
We did a couple of hundred miles in the rain and it worked well.
The shortys are more fun around town and are cooler looking but you need a real windshield on a trip.
I disagree; I think it is even more important to be able to comfortably look over the windshield on a long trip. I just did a 2500 mile trip and it was a PITA with my 9" LRS because I couldn't comfortably look over it and the combination of bugs, dust, dirt, setting sun as well as the tint made it a real challenge near the end of the day's ride.
I actually don't like the look of the really short shields, but I run a shorter one now for better visability.
I called and spoke to LRS. They are going to replace my 9" ultra and upgrade me to a polycarb at no additional cost! I'm going to go with the 8" in dark tint. I was so please with them that I actually am going to have them do some custom etching on my new shield. After many back and forth emails the design is down pat and they are going to cut etch and ship it out on tues. You can't get better customer service than that. I'm very impressed with them and will they will continue to see business from me.
