The rules for stopping in a town is dictated by city ordanances. So in one state there could be hundereds of different rules as to what a stop means. The foot down at a stop just shows that all forward motion had ceased. The laws that I have seen do not diferentiate how a vehicle is to stop. Just that it is to stop, where and for how long. The law applys to all road vehicles, cages and bikes alike.

Traffic tickets are almost always written under state statute though.

I stop with left foot only down 90% of the time and both feet about 10%. Mainly just to stretch out.

Camera lights here in Washington state witll get you. It don't matter if you put your feet down or not. Must come to a complete stop for 2 seconds. Got poped and tried to fight it showing I put my feet down but the bike never technically came to a complete stop and the time lapse photos showed I did not have my feet down for a full 2 seconds.

in NC the law states the vehicle must come to a complete stop, and has nothing to do with what ones feet are doing.

I missed passing my motorcycle license test (years ago) by 1 point because I didn't put both feet down at one of the stops I made during the test. So here in Nebraska, I guess it's definitely 'both feet down' at stop signs. At least during the driving test.

You only have due process rights for criminal offenses, not civil offenses. In just about all towns that install the red light cameras, it's a civil offenses, burden of proof is different.

I challenge anyone to prove 2 feet down is the law, anywhere.

And if you're facing uphill, then what? Is the officer going to measure the grade to determine if rear brake only is appropriate?

This is a ridiculous discussion IMO. If you got a ticket for 1 foot down, but came to a complete stop, you should have contested it on the spot, and again in court.

No I think its just like a job interview, although nobody really does it that way in real life, but here for your test you will do everything by the book!

a stop is a stop if its a few seconds or a hour if its safe to go AFTER a stop then go, I would think officers would have more things to do than sit and watch a biker with a stop watch or see if he puts down on or two feet, I am more worried about people trying to text while driving not watching the road,
