Some places give you a ticket if you don't put BOTH feet down. I only put a foot down if I'm stopping longer than a second or two
If that's the case then why are motorcops taught to keep the right foot on the brake and only put the left foot down? Good enough for me and it's what I do.
the last defensive driving course I attended (2012), the instructor made it a point, that in AZ, if you're on a motorcycle and you don't put BOTH feet down at a stop, you can get ticketed
Doesn't mean he is correct. Anyone research AZ? No hills in AZ?

I did a little research on this and I found NO STATE LAW IN ANY STATE. Requires 2 feet or even one foot down. In fact they NEVER mention feet at all
AZ and all the rest say Ceasing of forward motion or other wise. Then proceeding when the intersection is clear and it is safe to proceed. And they do not say a time you must stay stopped. That is another Urban myth like "You must have a 5 second stop" HORSE HOCKEY. No such thing. I know well meaning instructors that don't know the law, there just trying to protect you. Well meaning but WRONG. Sorry for the overly hash language,
Even the police don't know all the laws and have been wrong before,I know But I do know they study and try there best to keep up with new law so givem a break, But know your rights. Ride safe
It seems I'm such a party pooper, no one wants to hear real facts, they like their little stories of totally factless drama, Sorry I ruined it for you's. Dam I killed an entire thread with the truth, What a jerk!!! OK sorry 4th cup of coffee.... I'll go now .............Wait ..no I'm done lol
I got pulled over in Massachusetts for not putting my feet down at a stop sign. The officer called it a "California Stop". I tried to joke with him saying I lived in California for 8 years and I never heard it called that. He was NOT amused!
He explained to me that even though I stopped moving forward, not putting my feet down is technically not a "full" stop. He did let me go with a warning. I wasn't about to dispute his judgement at that point.
