As mentioned in other posts I had my bike dyno'd in Sturgis last year by Speeds. They did an excellent job correcting a lot of getting my bike more in tune. One thing that one of the brothers stated while he was doing it was that the idle was very lean.
When the bike it hot it would bog down in idle. I noticed in the timing section the 500 and 1000 rpm area it was advanced at 5. I decided to back it off to 0 and the idle problem is now fixed. However....
Yesterday it was warm here and I rode for quite some time in stop and go traffic. When leaving a stop sign/light quickly or a quick rap on the gas I could hear it ping just once or twice.
Now I am wondering should I put the 0's back up to maybe a 2 to give it a little more fuel timing at idle area.
Anyone have some ideas or shed some light on the subject? Also I do not have auto tune at this point and know it doesnt adjust timing even if I did. I also tried to search for answers first.
I would agree normally but since going to 0's I no longer smell the richness I had before at idle so it leads me to believe that is the issue. Also when speaking to DJ on the phone last year the tech kept wanting me to add timing up 10 in the column.
Yes, I do not have a PCV (I have a Thundermax). I would advance the timing just a couple degrees, test ride to see if still occurs, repeat if necessary. I know the timing at an idle on my bike is advanced to 10 deg at 500 rps and close to 20 by 1000 rpms.

Thanks!
Could use more info. On cell doesn't show bike info. What year what model what engine exhaust intake mods. You don't need any additional timing in the 0 timing area. I would add about 5 to 8 fuel in the 2% to 40% throttle opening area from 750 to 2000 rpms. Unless the tune is showing above 5 degrees additional timing in the same area you problems are probably mixture related.
