i know your pain man i had the same issue with my 2013 street glide until first break in. they adjusted the clutch and it seems to be much easier once i had my first maintenance. i rode sport bikes most of my life and they go in and out like buttering bread it seemed compared to this. i never tried any of the tricks guys suggested but i would try those and see how they work for you or once you get maintenance see if it gets easier.
Seems to me that at least on mine the neutral detent is far too shallow. It's no problem flipping the shift lever between 1 and 2 or 2 and 1, it's getting it to stop in that very faint detent that is neutral.
I'll never do it unless I have to take the transmission apart for some reason, but I would think that some modification could be made to the drum to make neutral more clear to feel and catch.
I threaded a 1/2 inch bolt in the bottom of my boot and use it as a stop for the heal shifter. Makes me walk kind of funny and it's hell on the kitchen floor but she'll forgive me. Just kidding. I use steady pressure on the heal shifter, no kicking. Practice the steady pressure and pretty soon you will have it perfect near every time.
I'm just over 9,000 miles on my '11 SG and I still have trouble getting it to go into neutral. If I can't get it there before I stop then I fiddle with it and finally get it...the instant that the light changes! Oh well. Had the adjustment checked when I first got it but was adjusted to spec, so just dealt with it.
I'm like a lot of folks in that I find it hard to get neutral at times on my 08 FLHX. I've heard that changing to the SE compensator can make finding neutral easier.

I have the same problem finding neutral. You would not think it would have to be that hard. Been mostly using the toe to find it. Will try using the heel as one poster suggested.
