Alright so I think I'm ready to add a little power to the bike. Mostly stock 04 Road King. All I have is a stage I tune and true dual pipes. I'm going to get a quote tomorrow from the local dealership but I figured I would run the mods by you guys and see if I need anything or I don't need anything.
88" to 95" bore. (probably the stock jugs at the dealership)
SE high compression cast pistons
SE Kompressor heads
SE-211 cams
Manual compression releases
Clutch disc upgrade
I'm not positive I need the clutch upgrade and I don't know if the SE-211 cams will be the best idea for the engine size as well. I know everyone has their own opinion on cams. I'm not looking to do any racing (hence the cast pistons) just driving to and from work but I always love to get on it every now and then. I've heard a couple sound clips and the SE-211's sound good at idle and sound like they do well with higher compression engines. Is there any other upgrades that I absolutely need? I may consider the automatic primary chain tensioner since I have everything apart.
Hopefully I can get a quote and figure out what the dealership will charge and see if I can keep it around $3000. I miss the power my old 96" had but I know I can definitely get that and then some with a 95."

Good plan. Should address the spring tensioners at this point, replace to Hydl or gear. Did this upgrade last year during winter, 95BB, Hyd cam tens, Andrews cams, deck the heads and a great tune/SEPST is the Bomb
Lots of choices for cams, Andrews, Mackie, Woods, & SE. Look into search mode and/orHDF member dbl from Texas. Knows his stuff on the mighty 88 to 95 builds. Ran against some stage one cvo and passed them with a Big smile. Just saying, Best of luck and enjoy the smile, D
Looks like a good combination. Where are you planning on having the work done, Adamec's? If you are, see if James Forte is still working there & if you can have him do the work. He builds good motors. If not, run by "One at a Time" on St. Augustine Rd. & talk to Tom Ried. He'll know where James is, & may have better prices. Both guys do good work.
HD's SE products represent poor value performance wise.
Checkout the aftermarket guys like bigboyz, head-quarters, hillside, and gmr.
HDF used have lots of build threads and great info here in the touring forum, but the best contributors, e.g. PHILM, stopped posting. I suggest you use the search function and find his posts from a couple of years ago.

Didn't get a chance to stop there today. James isn't at any of their locations. They referred me to John Fritsch. Quoted me at about $3000 for parts and labor so that's not a horrible deal. I'm wondering how this power will compare with my old 96" intake and exhaust.

I wouldn't drop that coin for SE stuff.
Carl
I personally never heard of any of those others but I haven't heard a whole lot of bad things about SE parts besides the high price. I'll look around and see what I can find.
Even if ya stick with SE the Kompressor heads don't offer any performance gain (stock milled heads). There some ok SE 95s out there but, I agree, the aftermarket is a better option and the above mentioned ones are a great place to start.

John Fritsch at Adamec took care of me when I had my cams installed. Great guy to talk to and very knowledgeable.
As harleypingman said an indy will give you a lot more bang for the buck. Check with Kirby at Vee Twin Racing in Deland www.veetwinperformance.com
That's just too far of a ride. Especially since I would have to drop the bike off and have someone bring me back. I'll have to look around for someone a little more local.

I'm going to give him a call on Tuesday. Hopefully tomorrow I get my speakers in and get those installed and then I can worry about the 95" kit. Anyone know what kind of power the SE upgrades would give me? I'm just used to the 96" power that I had and I need to keep up with the old mans bike when he visits.
I would love to save money and get more power but there's no way I can make a long trip with the bike to get it done.
