Hi every one. I just by my first Harley road king classic 2001.
Drive it yesterday for a while and on the road just shut off. I try to start but nothing. I wait for 20min and start it and drive for 2 miles and it shut off again. It happen couple of times when I was on my way home. This morrnig I start, and he start normaly.Drive for couple of rounds by the street and it shut off again.
Like when he reach warm temp. it just shut off engine. fuel pump it start every time when I give contact. Also on the shifting gear from high to low it start to fireing, and it shut off only when shifting from high to low. Could be the spark problem? I am in Europe in small country where is only few Harley's.
Check fuel in tank.
Fill tank to the top and try again.
Reason: fuel line inside tank sometimes gets a hole and at 1/2+ tank of fuel the line is outside of fuel.
Fill all the way to top and see if it goes away.
If it goes away remove the plate on top of tank to access the fuel lines to check.
Battery good?
Did you check the cables for the battery...check at battery and the other end..could also be a loose cable..
Is charging system OK?
Rather minimal information to work with right now?
If your not losing lights or instruments, it sounds like your crank sensor has gone bad, next time it shut off, if you had a tachometer, which Road King don't, you could crank it and you would not get a tach reading. replace your CKS and your problem will go away.
have not had a pin hole leak in the fuel line cause a shut down yet. would have to be a big hole.

I think john 58 is right crank sensor is going out i have a 99 king mine went out bike was doing the same thing as yours bike would shut off like you hit the kill switch let it sit awhile start up go again 5 minutes or so dye again when this happened i checked for spark at plug had none so i new it wasnt fuel had cps changed no issues in the past 4 years very common problem with harley good luck with your scoot.
Best of luck and hope you get it figured out. You must be pretty hot stuff over there in Croatia with a Harley!!!! Beating the babes away!!!
If it turns out to be what was suggested above it is actually called the crank position sensor and costs about $57 from Harley. That might be about $300 for you.
