Exclamation 2012 road king changing handle bars

My dealer is telling me that I need to replace the TBW to replace my handle bars on my FLHRC. Is this true or they just looking to sell me something else?

they are trying to sell you the SE throttle switch. they have been holding up a lot better than the stock ones. Its a good idea, in the long run. not necessary but good planning for the future

If it was a must.

The new style TBW doesn't have the connector in the harness thus making it easier to pull through the new handle bars if your going to run the rest of the wiring on the inside of the bars.I didn't buy a new one and had no problems.

Didn't replace mine but the small connector is easy to damage for one thing. Also a 1" bar is pretty tight if you intend to run internal wiring. That connector takes up a lot of the bar diameter.

YOu never said what bars you are going to. Most of the answers were assuming you are adding some type of apes. If you go to the Heritage style bars, you don't have to change a darn thing and the improve the riding position quite a bit.

even if your bars are a little higher, there is a few inches of tbw cable slack inside the headlight if you unclip the connector and set it free.

What bars are you going to? That matters to get an accurate answer to your question.
