Default Roll Forward on Start

Before heading off to the dealer, thought I would ask the pit crew about this. I did a search and didn't pull anything up here on hdforums. When I start the bike in gear, with the clutch pulled in, the bike still lurches forward. What is the deal? Will it get worse with time? Is it causing any risk of damage (other than rolling into - or off - something)? I would imagine it is some kind of clutch adjustment? Thanks in advance for the input.

Sounds like the clutch plates-discs aren't seperating-releasing.
Check your clutch adjustment.
Also it begs questions such as how many miles?
What lube in your primary?

It is just breaking loose the static tension in the oil in the clutch discs. You are putting unnecesary strain on your starter.

It has just about 3000 miles on it. Bought it in March, had the first service by HD a month or so ago. So I am thinking that HD needs to deal with it. Will a clutch adjustment fix the problem? Or is it bigger than that?

Why not start in neutral?

If mine is a cold start it slightly moves forward...If it's hot doesn't do it again.

I think, respectfully, that your comment misses the point. I don't trust the dealer. - they probably charged me for a clutch adjustment that they never did (at 1000k) I want to be able to stride in and say, "Hey, adjust my damn clutch."

The response you are referring to, which reads: "It is just breaking loose the static tension in the oil in the clutch discs. You are putting unnecesary strain on your starter," doesn't answer the question as to whether a clutch adjustment is all that is needed.
