I don't think the guy you responded to was questioning your logic in your original post. He was just trying to make sense of what you where trying to say. Sometimes your posts are hard to read and figure out.

7 pages of unfounded bull ****

The differences are small and undetectable when the swap is accompanied by a proper tune.

generally speaking a 2 into 1 will perform better than true duals.

I have always run true duals, I ran rinehardts I love the look and sound, but this time I am going with a 2 into 1 technically, it is actually two short head pipes that terminate in a small collector on one side of the bike.
I went this way because after riding 2 up with bags full and the bike loaded I needed more torque when traveling especially for passing but even riding big hills, or taking off on a hill fully loaded even with the 103 I need more.
I dont wan t start with cams and beyond, I want to get my gains in a good stage one so I need to count every extra bit I can get to be satisfied.
I will tell ya in 4 days when they arrive and I tune the bike and install everything.

Also I decided in time I am going to do a set of stretch bags I really like a lot and there arent any true dual pipes that are going to easily work with them so I went this route, personally I think they look better and they definitely perform better from everything I have seen and everyone using them I have talked to.

Who makes these? Why do you think they wull make more torque than a 2-1.

No performance reasons. My decision was getting heat off of the right leg only.

I love my true duals, I don't have any issues merging into traffic?

As I said earlier, with all the mods I listed plus a SE air cleaner. I really don't think I have lost any torque on the low end. Ole Whitey still pulls like a 3 dollar mule, especially when riding two up. Never had any feeling of loss of power. Gas mileage did drop down to about 38 mpg. But I ain't complainin..

Most people have never dynoed back to back runs and just pass on Internet info and their "seat of the pants" justification for false info.

My 06 street glide would out run any equally equipped big three modded bike. Everyone swore I must have had cams.
My sixth gear ran like crap. I had it tuned by three different shops trying to get the sixth gear back to where it should be. I was told by two of the three get rid of those pipes they are costing you torque where you need it. Only one thing solved that issue and it was removing the true duals. BTW, this was back when I was only running stage one. I imagine now I wouldn't notice it as much. But I say why pay the price for reduced performance?
