What exactly do you mean by run like crap? I had an intake and tune on my Crossbones and my 6th gear didn't pull anyways. It's not meant to. There is a torque loss with duals where you normally ride and you can somewhat tune it out but compared to a 2-1 it wont be as strong at the low-medium range.
Why pay for a new paint job? Because it looks better to some people. True duals sound better to some people. I'm sure a true dual system will outperform any stock system.
I mean in my case at a true 70MPH in sixth gear I could not roll on the throttle. Bike would just bog down and start pinging. It just didn't have the torque with the 07 over tall sixth gear and true duals. It's a really long complicated story that I don't want to get into in this thread but a big part of solving my bikes performance issues at that time was getting rid of the true duals. Now I can roll on sixth at 60MPH if I need to but it's really a different motor in my bike these days. Short version of the fix for my performance issues, I went back to the factory head pipes and put on some Fuel Moto Jackpot mufflers, took it to a dealer that actually knew how to tweak the factory ECM.
I don't think the guy you responded to was questioning your logic in your original post. He was just trying to make sense of what you where trying to say. Sometimes your posts are hard to read and figure out.
Sorry bud I know my English is not that good even my wife always correct me but I like talking to people and improve it if I won't then I will probably be a real dumb ***.Too late and busy to go back to school I learned it as a second language back home about 40 years ago.

That is how I learned the difference bike was performing good with TD due to 103" and SE 255 but after few years my rear pipe had a big burn hole in it so I put back the stock headers because we were leaving on long trip next day and that's when I discover bike felt so strong and no bogging down even in lower RPM.Even though I already placed an order for new TD headers before I put stock headers on and it sat in my garage for a long time until I sold it for half the price I paid for it. You really have to try both set of exhausts back to back to notice difference.

Your poor performance issue was not in the true duals, it was in the tune. The rest was in the too tall gearing of the '07 model year that makes 6th gear all but useless under 70 mph (a problem H-D eventually changed).

Dude I could roll on after I got rid of the true duals. I stand by my position as does the poster above me. And let me tell with the 103, 255 cams, and some head work I now roll on at 60MPH with no problem. You can run it through your head any way you want but you can't show me a dyno sheet and you can't show me anyone that on the road has tested them beck to back and says yup the true duals perform better. They don't. They cost you torque. And like I said I don't want to get into it but in addition to the shops telling me they were the problem I did a lot of research that proves it. I suggest you do the same.
Looks, sound, and top-end performance. I have true duals and I have not noticed enough performance loss down low to even talk about it. I have a buddy with the traditional 2-1-2 and he gets smoked down low every time! Top-end is even worse. Personally I love the look and sound.
So any exhaust besides slip ons should be just as expensive or more than true duals. I had my V&H true duals on in maybe 20 minutes. Sounds like you need a better dealership.
no, actually I don't need another dealership. I got a great deal on the SG I purchased and I put my own pipes on.
