Two days ago my neutral light started to come on after the bike is warmed up. It seems to do it about 10-15 miles into a ride. It also is apparently causing the red key light to come on, which I assume is related.
It isn't always a steady stream, sometimes it just flickers, or gets real dim.
I understand it's a ground switch, and that's why I'm a little lost.
I took the two boots off the switch, and it looks like a black piece of rubber is stuck on the inside, not sure if that's normal, as it just looks like a tag, flapping around in there.
On top of that, I tested the switch. When I first turn the ignition on while in gear, I get continuity, shift to neutral, still continuity, back to gear, then nothing like it should be (as my understanding of it goes?).
Could it possibly just be a bad switch, or, hopefully not, a wiring issue somewhere? I did take the front of the fairing off the day it happened, but didn't do anything with wiring, I didn't even disconnect the headlight.
Any thoughts will be much appreciated. Want this fixed before I ride the 1000+ miles to Laconia next week. Thanks!
Not sure what I would be looking for that I may have pinched. I took the fairing apart again last night and couldn't find anything. Not used to fairing bikes, and there's a LOT going on back there. Any thoughts on where to start, would be appreciated. I suppose I will take it apart and just look for anything.
