I had a beautiful 05 Softail Deluxe totally chromed out and loved the bike. I found a 2012 EGC that was a great deal. It had 1000 miles with stage one complete, detach tourpack and antenna relocation done, and a few more add-ons it was still way cheaper than a used streetglide and after a few modes I pretty much have a streetglide for $4,000 less.
I have a '12 RK and am pleased with it. I was at a dealer today and was looking at a '13 Electra Glide Classic. I like the batwing, radio, gauges, tour pack, etc. My sales guy (bought my three previous scooters from him) made me a very tempting deal on a trade. At my age, I don't really want to step up to a Limited or an Ultra. Given that this is the last year for the Classic, what do you guys think? The RK or a new Classic will probably be my last bike.
Might as well go for the gusto and get the Limited. If its going to be your last bike, enjoy it man! Even if you don't use all of the bells and whistles, they are there READY to be used and you wont have the " I should of got the Limited" regrets. Its the same bike anyway, just a few more geizer glide features. I LOVE mine, wish I would of traded my sporty for it YEARS soon than I did. Wish you luck with whatever choice you make. Show us some pics after you bring it home.
i do love my 2011 egc. the only thing that would make me want an ultra would be the tour pak lights. i really like the clean look of the classic back end, but i do realize the ultras have a ton more night time rear lights that help that sleepy eye driving behind you.
I went from a 09 Ultra to 2013 Classic and am happy I did. I didn't use the CB, intercom had the tour pak off 90% of the time.
I don't miss the lowers and I didn't like all the lights on the tour pak plus i wanted the Big Blue Pearl paint instead of the black Ultra.
I have had my EGC since 04 and love it.. IF I were to do it again... Limited,,, all the way.. I started to pull the trigger last year, but this 04 has been such a good friend and runs great, no re-sale value and I have it the way I want it..
Another reason to get the EGC is the tour pack itself, not only is it easier to remove if you want (no wires) but, when it's on it has more volume. The Ultra has lights that intrude into the interior of the tour pack and it has noticeably less room in it.
