Not to jack the "looking for a quieter exhaust" thread but seriously anybody out there running just an otherwise stock system with the de catted header? This is what I'm considerind doing.I don't really want more noise just less heat.I'd be interested in hearing from anybody running something as far as how much cooler it is and how it sounds etc.
Yep, stock decatted header with 4" Rinehart slip ons. Very happy with it, no issues and the sound is much better with the cat out IMO. Much cooler on the right Sid of the bike as well. Makes the wife happy.
I ran '09 non-cat header with newer cat mufflers until I went 103. Really liked the the silence but wanted a little more flow and went to fatshotz for 103 + cams. Still stock header.
I'm thinking of getting a catless system from American Customs and bolting it up with the stock mufflers. Any of you already try this? and sorry if this has already been beaten to death I'm new to the touring world and would have never thought this on a Dyna

I decatted the mine useing a 1''paddle bit from home depot wasn't very hard to do, took about an hour. you can do search on here and find some good information.

De-catted headers, stock muffler and ac with XiED's. De-cat was free, got a stock take off from the dealer for free and de-catted myself. $120 XiED from nightrider.com and best under $150 exhaust upgrade I ever made. Much cooler on back of my right calf, better throttle response at start, a little extra sound...AND runs great. I have a couple of buddies that dumped a couple of grand each on pipes, tuning devices, etc... on their RG's and I keep up with them just fine. There is surely some HP and TQ differences with their setup, but you would never know it running down the highway.
I just ordered a de-catted stock header pipe from B&E Performance and plan to run Screaming Eagle slip-ons. The new take off SE slip-on came off a CVO Road Glide. The SE mufflers seem to be about as loud as my stock mufflers... or maybe just ever so slightly louder. The de-catted header should increase the volume by just a little more, but it's main purpose is heat reduction. I'm taking the incremental approach to finding my perfect volume.
I decatted my 2013 SG and cut through the back of the baffle with a 1.5 inch hole saw on the mufflers. Sounds better than stock by a long shot. Had to do something while waiting on my cfr mufflers!!! Wait and wait and wait!!! Oh ya I forgot........ Wait some more!!!!!
