Not everyone is born to turn wrenches or knows how or for that matter has the money to pay someone to do it for them. So when you got your first HD, you knew how to do everything to it, torque specs/sequence etc? Last time I looked, this forum is here to help people and to share our experiences. Thats some of the problem with this forum, people come on here and dont even try to help, just post idiotic comments. What if he was your neighbor and needed help, would you tell him to pay for it since he dont know how? OP, you keep asking all the questions you need to, dont let comments like that discourage you from turning your own wrenches and saving $$$.
My 1st HD was a 2002 Fboy, I call it my learner HD. I screwed up some stuff but learned a lot so now my new RK benefits from my experience, and I have more $$ to play with as I do everything myself. It's a hobby for me, so I enjoy working on the HD myself.
You'll need a torque wrench, check out the range in the Harley service manual before buying, open end and closed end wrenches are very helpful. Seems like you'll need and extension and a flex joint too for your torque wrench. Instructions in manual are step by step.
You can do it. a good friend would be more than willing to help.

I do agree everyone is not born to turn wrench's. I have seen way to many times where someone who doesn't have a clue try's to fix a vehicle. It turn's out very bad and costs them a lot more to fix what they screwed up.
I do help my neighbors and friends but just like you I expect to get paid for my services.
Everyone's a mechanic till they have to fix something. Have a great day.
