Default Shimmy when letting go of handle bars

Sorry guys but i have another question and a problem. I feel like the only time i get on her is when something is going wrong. Today i went for a ride and i happened to let go of the handle bars for a spilt second. Right away the bars started to shimmy pretty bad. As soon as i lightly touch the bars it stops. The bike is a 98 road glide. Any ideas. It does not happen unless i let go of the bars. There is a little shimmy if i just hold on with one hand.

Tire issue or steering head bearing. Not ruling out a failing wheel bearing either.

first time I had this issue it was the fall away. Second time was because I threw another wheel weight. Went with balancing beads this time. No more shake.

You knew someone was going to say it: "Don't let go of the handlebars!" Seriously though, my best guess is wheel balance 1st, neck bearing 2nd. With all due respect to the above guidance, it really shouldn't be air pressure, unless it's significantly low.

Check tire and balance, 2000 road glide here. I take my hands off the bars for long distances even in slight cures while leaning to steer.( I am trying to figure out how high I want my apes) No wobble at all.

Oh, and don't forget, it's just not the front tire that can be out of balance to cause your symptoms. It can also be the rear! I know this for a fact.

read thru this it may help https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...front-end.html
