after riding yesterday. Came out today to clean her up a little
and noticed a small amount of oil on my lift table where I park it
checked plugs seemed to be tight, it's primary oil I can tell because it's
always the dirtiest of the three. no leak at the derby cover .looks to be coming out
right under the center of the bike. never had this before .bike is 09 street glide
with about 20k on the clock. any ideas? are there any seals that may cause this?
appreciate any help before I head to shop.
You say it appears like it is dripping out from the center of the bike?
Like from behind the inner primary case?
that's a possibility .after I clean it all off real good with brake clean
I may be able to tell more. I think inner primary seal or gasket would be a good guess.
Hard to diagnose a leak over the internet without actually seeing the bike but here are three of the most likely sources of the leak, based on my own experience with my bike, and what I've read on this forum...
1) Trans (right hand side, two lower screws loose @ exhaust bracket)
2) Stator grommet
3) Shifter shaft seal
The first step to determining any leak, whether one of the three sources I listed or not, is to thoroughly clean any existing leakage and then start or ride the bike a short distance and give it an immediate inspection. This way you should be able to see the leak from it's source before the oil migrates all over the place concealing the source.

thanks all of you. This will give me a starting point. now if it's covered by extended
warranty.
That was going to be my guess, trans bolts. 2black beat me to it, lol. I don't see why it wouldn't be covered by the extended warranty, its a leak. Its gonna suck to pay 50 bucks for a 5 dollar gasket if you take it in though, lmao.. If you do take it in, complain about other chit so they look her over real good, never know, they might find something that you dont know about. Pretty sure they will find something to replace under warranty just to put $$$ in their pockets, those dealers are out there, sad but true..
