Never had any trouble with the OEM Dzus clips, but I always make sure both pins are bottomed, give them a little wiggle to line everything up straight, watch each fastener engage and then test them with a back twist. I get the feeling that a lot of "sprung" pins happen because users don't get things quite lined up and just try to horse the pin on.
I still don't begrudge anyone trying to get a little extra peace of mind. I'll probably add a threaded fastener one of these days too.

Sorry OP. Pilot error on your part. No way they come loose if the lock washers are flattened.

Definitely a possibility that I did not tighten the bolts all the way, although that makes no sense to me. I understand pilot error after flying B-52's for 17 years.

Awesome aircraft. They foresee the Stratofortress still in service up to about 2040! Still under one hundred in service but hard to beat for a subsonic bomber.

My mind goes back to the years of 'safety wiring' bolts...

I went low-rent with speed-clips (like Brukus uses) and bolts (bags are always locked, so I never thought of anti-tamper bolts), But rwhisen, those pieces are a thing of beauty....very cool work,

Went out and checked my Brukkus installation after reading all this. There must be 1/4" of thread past those weld nut clips....can't imagine how both of those bolts can somehow back out to the point of the whole effin saddlebag falling off. Pilot error, indeed.
