Check those Brukus bolts! My bag flew off at 60 MPH and skidded for a while. The other was nice and tight, go figure!
Most of the damage was on the lid and bottom of bag. It's going to need light body work and paint.
Can the new ABS bags be fixed paint/body work?
Thanks.
Yes they can be Fixed easily by a competent body shop. Check with your local HD and see who does their repair work. Those guys do lots of insurance jobs and should e well practiced
casique sorry to hear that happened to you. I nearly lost one before I got the Brukus kit.
The Brukus instructions say to tighten the fastener until the lock washer is just compressed flat.
Not suggesting that you didn't do that, but any fastener can back itself off with none or minimal lock washer tension.
Anything is possible. I could have screwed things up. I had the Brukus kit for two years with no issues. Definitely NOT blaming Brukus. It's my fault for not checking fasteners more often.

you haven't had the bag off in two years you say, do you open them up very often...I'm not criticizing by any means but for those bolts to back out it would have to be very obvious whenever your in the bag. Could there be another reason the kit failed?
Sorry to hear about your bag. Things happen I guess. Maybe a little blue Loctite on the threads would help if you don't take your bags on and off a lot.
This isn't something I've heard about with the Brukus bolts, so they may have just backed out on you over time if you didn't tighten them quite right. You do hear of the bags having this happen far more often from the OEM fastener - due to improper installation when put in.
However the risk you take is BOTH bags flying off - into the trunk of a dirtbag's car when you're parked at the mall, if you run with the OEM fasteners.
This one comes around again.
I'll stick with the stock pins 43 years never had one come off or stolen, never seen one come off and they hold pretty good. Totaled the bike destroyed the bags but the pins held just fine, both still in place.
