Been racing motorcycles since i was 10. Its a new bike that has a tendency to have issues with bearings and just wanted to know how and why some other riders with the same bike hit certain shift points. That's exactly what I thought when I saw this topic.
You obviously learned NOTHING from all your "racing".
Repeating what others have already said, there's no carved-in-granite "shift points" for ANY machine. It depends on the load, whether you're going uphill or downhill, whether you're in a hurry....yada, yada, yada. Once you've reached the level of riding a bike like a Harley touring bike, you're supposed to know all about stuff like this. If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be on that bike.

Thanks Mikeo for starting this thread. You've got the attention of a lot of guys with an incredible amount of knowledge. I hate to high jack the thread but since you've got their attention I have to ask. How many days do you guys go before changing your panties? I seem to get a day or two more from the pink ones but just wondered what you guys did.
No disrespect meant here, but if you have any experience on a bike you should already understand that there is no one shift point. The bike and the conditions in which you are riding, along with your riding style will all come together to "tell" you when to shift. If you need to look at the tach to know when to shift you have a lot to learn about motorcycles. Or anything with a manual transmission for that matter.
