I have a 2011 FLHP and would like to know what tool is used to remove the engine stabilizer link bolts.
In case I'm naming this incorrectly, this is the link between to frame and the top of the front cylinder.
I'll searched the forums, and some have said these are torx head bolts. However, my T40 is too small and T45 is too big. I haven't been able to find any torx sizes between these two
I stopped at the Harley shop yesterday and found out that evidently there are two versions of a T45 socket.
One has rounded points, like mine has
The other has sharper points. Looks almost like a spline socket. Anyway, this is what is needed for these stabilizer bolts.
Now to see if I can find such a socket and see if this is in fact true
I assume you are taking it off because it's squeaking.
I submerged mine in oil, and worked it in till a couple tiny air bubbles came out, wiped down and reassembled. Never a squeak since.
Dogbone would be a good description. We're talking about the rod that goes from the frame to the front cylinder. The connection is towards the top of the front cylinder
Tried to cut and paste a diagram here, but failed miserably
