Its natural to always have a want... however does the want take more precedence than the need?

My toys are paid for, having that said...I cant see going out and having a payment on a toy just to get a newer one.

Would your wife/GF like you trading her in for a newer model with less miles?

Not having a payment is pretty nice. But if you can afford it, go for it. As for the difference between them, test ride the SG and then decide if you want it or not. Personally, I like the SG over the other touring bikes.

Probably not the best place to come to for financial advice.

It comes down to this simple cost analysis: What does the extra $400 bucks a month mean to your quality of life? Right now you have the RK and can ride and spend that $400 on any number of things (if it is disposable). If you make the purchase, you will have a new addition to your hobby, something to admire and that will make you all warm inside for the next 10 months before it is a normal part of your life. The $400 will still be yanked from your pocket far beyond that new bike smell.

I love the bikes I own, but there have been times which I have had to sacrifice some quality of life to ride. Life is about choices. Hope this helps you make yours.

With only 30k on the clock, I'd keep it.

I too am curious like the OP, and it seems a lot of folks didn't quite understand the question from the OP. I believe he is basically asking if the extra payment is worth the changes to the touring bikes, such as the frame changes in 09. Is the quality of life that much better going to the newer frame?

Is there really that big of a difference in the newer frame to justify the cost? What do you guys think?
An '05 w/30K means you're only logging ~3-4K miles per year... do you really need a NEW bike? (sorry, don't mean to sound like the wife)

As many others have said in the thread ... it really is about how you spend your money, Yes the new engine and frame are great ... but really how much do you ride?; how much will the payment crimp your style? ... If the payment is in ANY way a stretch, ride the bike you got ... also how long will that payment last ... years out when you may need the money for something else?

From a strictly financial standpoint, ride the one you got ... and start making the payments ... to yourself 'till ya got the money to go in a write a check for the one you want ...
