Thanks!!!! Ask yourself a few things -

1. Do you ever ride, or like to ride, without a windshield? If no, one more reason to get a Street Glide. I do ride without, and that was another reason for me to get a RK.

2. You can add a few different aftermarket ferrings to RKs to get the look and tunes of a SG..... but, they are a little pricey. Unless you get a good deal on a used bike, it is cheaper to just buy what you want up front.

3. I forget if you looking at new or used, and this is a given because you already ride and know this already, but for what it's worth, there are a ton of Harleys on the market that are used and never riden. This is a little less true in the touring family than the softail or dyna, but still true. You can find an awesome used bike, with few miles, and a lot of extras for a lot cheaper than new. If I had it to do over, I'd probably bought used. My buddy got an 09 RKC a few months back, it had probably $3,000 in extras, and less than 2,000 miles, and he picked it for about $14,000 I think. --- 09 and newer touring bikes have the new frame design and such....

Test ride them all, hard to beat a Road King. I don't like fairings and the radio's are useless at highway speeds so don't let that be your deciding factor. Easy enough and a lot better sound with an Ipod and everyone else in the neighborhood doesn't have to listen to it.

Me and my GF hear my radio on my SG just fine.
Maybe the frame drop kit has something to do with it, I sit about 3" lower.

I'm going back to ride the RK. I'd love a quick release windshield. I don't have music on my metric either but, I was thinking once I got a Touring bike I'd be taking longer rides, (think cross state, adjoining state, not cross country) therefore I'd want a fairing and tunes.
I won't drive with headphones and I certainly won't ride with them. Honestly I prefer back road cruising 1st choice when riding and I might not even need the radio. I'd just hate to get a RK and wish I had the SG, but if I get the SG I think I can live with not getting the RK, unless that fairing makes me hot.

I personally think the batwing fairing is somewhat problematic when compared to some of the benefits it does provide. You owe it to yourself to pose your questions in other sections of this forum and get opinions from guys who ride without a fairing. In this touring forum the majority of the guys here have touring bikes with batwings, so you really can't get a true cross section of opinions.

The beauty of having a stereo is the ability to turn it on and off. And upgrade if so desired.

The Itche becomes the modding aflicktion. Which inevitabley leads to the more bikes syndrome.
The good news is there is lots of support here for your Aflicktion.
Enjoy your itche! Don't worry! It's kind of like poison sumac, the more ya scratch, the itchier it will get!
