I did my research and found the same thing. I got a helluva deal on the whole HD kit including bars, brake lines, etc, so I rolled with the HD setup. I love em!!!
You won't be disappointed, the Fat Bar just begs you to put miles on the bike!
Merry Christmas to all my Classic Friends here on the forum. I hope you wake up tomorrow and find your WWW's pearly white, leather fringe covering your iron steeds (the bike...) and a gift card for more chrome in your stocking.
FedEx dropped off my 518s today with new headlight/turn signal bezels. I'm having my indy install the bars, new grips, switch housings, and stainless cables. The 518s allow the cables to be run internally. If I'm gonna spend the extra cash on stainless cables, I wonder if I should have them run outside. Looking for opinions.

Only the wiring would be internal, not the cables.
I've been lusting after a set of these bags for quite some time. Found some NOS, but didn't want to step up and pay the $800/set. I purchased a set on ebay ($50 + $60 shipping) that looks a little tired with a non-matching buckle on the right bag. So, I then purchased a single right side bag for $149 + $15 shipping. I also ordered some Doc Bailey's Leather Black to see if I can make these bags more presentable.
Looking for any information/guidance on how to get these looking good and opinions on how what anyone thinks on how good I can get these looking. The single bag appears to be in great shape. I'm mostly concerned about the left-side bag that came with the set.

I've seen the leather RoadKing bags(used) go for around $250-275 before. As for yours, find a leather guy or saddle and tac guy and have him replace the mismatched buckle/strap on the original bag from the new bag then both bags match, even if the buckles don't exactly,ya can't see em at the same time anyway.

I don't expect that I'll take apart a good bag to repair the one with the mismatched buckle. My plan is to pair the good right side bag with the left side that came with the set. My hope is to (hopefully) get them looking close to those on Sol's bike:
I've been riding H-D's for over 10 years and have had Ultra's and Road Glides. I currently have an '08 Road Glide, but have always loved the old school look of the Road King Classic. Now with the 103" standard I think it's time to give it a go. I was just wondering if others have gone from Ultra's and/or Road Glides to the Road King Classic and what your thoughts are (pros/cons)...Thanks!!
No real thoughts other than I'm in exactly the same situation. Love the FLHRC, and now with the 103", it's even more tempting. Problem is, the Mrs. would kick my tail if I got rid of "our" Ultra. So for now when I want me Road King fix, I'm off on my '96 FLHR. Probably shouldn't be ungrateful - at least I got 2 bikes that are paid for in the garage.

you'll love those bags. i had a set of those and the other ones with the black/chrome spots that harley made. the ones you have are great because you can open part of the bag with one detachable clip. the buckles are decorative. the are much bigger than classic bags and hard bags. i bought a nos set with nos saddlebag rails(that dont go with these) for 150 bucks back in 200. i had almost bought a set from harley from 795 and was glad i didnt. mine held up well. i'd like to pickup another set someday.
