before i go ahead and take the trans cover off again..i just want to make sure i understand what your saying..with the trans cover off the cable will be extended as in the clutch lever shoudl be in the "out" or cruising position, not pulled in,,
then go over to the clutch pack and adjust the plunger to where the shaft coming out of the trans starts to move out about about a half inch.
install the trans cover then adjust like normal...
now i just have a question..how does the readjust the clutch pack..when i took the trans cover off before, that plunger is just freewheeling in the trans..correct?..
im all for trying it out..i just want to make sure i understand everything.. thanks for your help

Wow. I've got to say I'm a bit confused myself. It's like how does something like a clytch adjustment get to this point. Frustrating for sure. Hope it works. I've been there myself and it drives you nuts.
The pushrod does free wheel with the trans cover off. Turning the adjuster in so that the pushrod sticks out on the right side 1/2" helps keep the ramp and ***** in place while you're installing the cover.

alright stiggy thx...tried it already to no avail..im stumped..literally stumped man
i dont know if this helps either, but the clutch lever feels normal till about half way and then gets rock solid. you can see the clutch pack move to the half way point on the clutch lever but then its liek there is no movement left in the clutch pack and the lever gets rock solid and the clutch pack doesnt move any further out
also stiggy after i adjust the clutch pack itself "turn in adjust screw to first feel of resistance and then back off half way", i then pull in the clutch lever a few times to set the ball and ramp the clutch lever feels ok, obviously there is a ton of play in the cable but the clutch lever feels normal to when she is fully pulled in, its only till after i adjust the cable it gets rock solid..i dont now if that means anything... >
If it slips when the adjuster is loose, the problem is in the clutch pack. The loosened adjuster screw eliminates any possible issue with the ramp, pushrod, or throwout bearing.
When you are pulling in the clutch and it binds halfway on you, it seems that it does that because your clutch plates are apparently already partially open when you start to pull on the lever.
I've never heard of this before. There is nothing in the clutch pack that should keep it open with the spring installed.

right , thats whats confusing me.. that why im thinking it could be a binding clutch cable possible?.. but when i had the trans cover off i was extended and retracting the ball and ramp and the cable was extending and retracting without any restriction .. ?

I assume you mean a half turn.
And I don't know if it matters, but I never pull the lever a few times until I've adjusted the cable out to approximately where I'll set it first. ( This still sounds like a ball and ramp problem to me....)
Regardless, with the adjuster totally loose, if the clutch is still slipping, the problem must be in there. I'm really curious as to what the shop says.
