Agreed....thats why I wasnt trying to persuade him to buy or upgrade a tuner like some others would. Just pointing out that I don't have to carry all the extra stuff YOU do.
Just had a pair of SE255's fitted, I already had a big sucker intake and V&H slip-ons, my only tuning upgrade was a pair of Xieds, so I was interested to see how my bike would respond without a tuner or download.
Well guess what, it's runs as sweet as a nut and pulls like a train. I am amazed as I thought the minimum I would need would be a dealer download or failing that a custom tune and tuner.
Guessing Xieds do the trick in richening the mixture, I will give the plugs another pull after about 100 miles but so far don't think I am going to need to spend another dollar

I only carry the extra stuff on a long trip in the event that I run into an idiot dealer if there is a problem. My Trike is still under warranty and ESP, so you have do do what you have to do just in case. Your Powervision is a good alternative, but do you have to remove your handlebar mounted screen for service? No problems with you personally bud and not trying to cause any problems. Just offering some alternatives to the OP if he chooses to do so. I have no problem with the dealers and the mods done to my bike in my area as they are not jerks.

nateuofmn - if it runs strong now you may not feel a difference, but the engine could end up more efficient. With the Fuel Moto map installed I did some ectra tuning which only made my bike run a little cooler didnt feel ant difference.
Buddy - I do have to pull it off the bars but its likr taking the gps off when going to the dealer. No worries. If need be I can flash the stock map when I pull up then talk to the service tech.
Got a call from my tuner and he said it sounds like a pushrod came loose on the dyno. I have the adj. tapered se. I was afraid of this and even used some loctite. I wish I was there, he's tightening it up now and it worries me that I'm not there to see it. Hopefully this doesn't become a reoccurring thing with them coming loose. He said this can happen on the dyno since it's really being pushed, is this true?
those light weight nuts split real easy , i went to adjust mine and found 2 split-- took a regular 5/16 nut and tapped out to 3/8 fine thread 24 thats on the pushrod . I still use loctite on threads.
I did have a pic of split nuts and new ones I remade. but cant find on this computer
Having a dyno test today, just to see where its at with only Xieds
I would bet dynoing it would do better than the xieds, for the fact your leaving a little timing on the table which could improve the pull.
After cams I would certainly dial it in versus just emulating with resistors, for as said, you are leaving some potential on the table by not dialing it in.
If they are running the bike in to check it, I would spend the extra $200 and have them have at it.
