Slow down guys, don't jump to the blame game. In '07 they changed the derby cover seal ('06 on Dyna) to a sealing ring that is orange and fits into the groove in the "derby cover." Earlier years used the 25416-99B flat gasket with the orange stripe that say's "this side toward clutch." Most of the replacement/fancy covers still use the flat style gasket as earlier. You must cut a hole in the center of it. The reason they don't include is it covers several different years (abouta decade) that uses different derby cover gaskets. Parts man should have told you. You can reuse all, factory recommends replacement.

Add me to the list of re-using both the derby, and inspection plate gaskets. No problems!

You are dead on. I ended up with a new gasket and the cost was another 10 bucks. That's one of the down sides to ordering parts from Chicago Harley Davidson, no human contact to advise me about the gasket.

I also found the screws on the stock cover were a **** to backout. I destroyed a T25 bit and a T25 driver before I went to AutoZone and bought one with a hard enough tip. I still had to use a pair of channel locks as a cheater. I ended up rounding out the head of the last screw and it still wouldn't come out. I had to knotch the screw with a file and take a flat blade screw driver and a hammer to break the bond of the factory locktight. [:@]

On the bright side I learned all about the 8 in1 screw driver it the tool kithowever there was no way in hell I was gonna use channel locks on it as a cheater.

What I thought was going to be a 5 minute parts swap turned out to be a 2 hour job over 2 days with1 trip to AutoZone and 1 trip to the local Harley dealer.

Yes, they did. But I just adjusted clutch and used that same flat style gasket as a replacement for the stock cover. Took the orange ring out and cleaned it and imagine this.........darn thing stretched too large to fit back in slot.

I did this on Sunday and have about 200 miles on bike since and no leaks yet.

Why do you have to cut a hole in middle of the gasket?

You do? I just went out to the garage and read the instructions again and it doesn't say anything about cutting a hole in the gasket.

Yes, you can reuse the gasket.

Wait- on the 07s the gasket is part of the derby cover instead of being on the primary itself. You will have to purchase a gasket it this is the case. You can reuse that gasket when you change fluids though. It is pretty tough material and holds up great.
