I have to say i liked the "old" style springs better..When i say that, it seemed that the bike shifted easier with those springs in it..but also seeing as my inner spring broke...i guess they weren't strong enough for the newer bikes? I emailed Kathy to see what she says..What do you guys think?. The unit does work excellent still, alot easier shifting than the stock unit and the primary is still much quieter with the Hayden in there..so im still a happy customer...Just wondering about the chain eating into the shoe already..seems like in another 1500 it may end up looking like the OP Hayden,,We shall see..Just as a reference im 50 miles shy of 30k on my bike...

It looks perfect right now and will stop once the rollers mate with the shoe. Theres no reason to expect excessive wear. The OPs is one out of thousands of units with this being the only one showing pretty healthy wear. Give it time. You know you dont have to t a ke the cover off everytime to che c k it you can see just fine f r om the derby cover with a good flashlight. Try it you can see everything you need to by looking to the left and down.

I pulled my primary cover off yesterday and my Hyden looks just like yours. I had about a 1/2" between the base & shoe, so I added the thin spacer. Mine has about 4500 miles on it.

OP here.
I don't think yours looks to bad at 1500 miles. Just keep a eye on it to make sure the rollers don't eat in to it like mine did, then you should be
good to go.
I'm still running with just the one spring, so far so good.

i can't believe that's only got 1500miles on it. never would see this with a manual adjuster. that looks like it's getting eaten up to me, but i 've never owned a hayden before.

Dealership has my bike doing some warranty work. They just called and told me my Hayden shoe is worn half through. Hayden has about 1000 miles on it.

I haven't seen it yet but if it is, I guess my indy installed it incorrectly???

As the device wears the tension on the spring will decrease resulting in less wear of the shoe. Surely this is not a design feature.

Your new Hayden looks like a perfect fit. I suspect your earlier spring broke because it was to long and had no where to go and eventually gave into excessive stress. Anyone hear from Hayden, how about you Expat1 any thoughts you would share?

Yea i think im good to go...It has really loosened up nicely..The wear looks ok to me, and the primary feels realllllly smooth..For me the "new" Hayden seems to be a great fit ..

Not abnormal on a Hayden..It will wear into the shoe a bit until a certain point, then stop..

My only comment is that it took way too long for most folks to react.

When people mention the 'old' spring kit, do they know how much force it provides? The answer is NO!
Those who refer to the new SE compensator, do they know that the same number of teeth corresponds to the same chain length? It seems not!

Hayden could perhaps clarify a few myths then everyone would enjoy the good stuff they (already) have.

What these "myths" would be?I'm an ignorant (in the matter) but I've been an avid follower and also have the latest model H. tensioner in my '06 Ultra. Please enlighten me.
