Default Best Fuel Choice

Locally I have a choice between 91 octane ethanol free or 93 octane with 10% ethanol. I been using the non ethanol. Wondering if that is the best choice.

That is a coincidence as I had that choice today while in Thackerville, Oklahoma, home of WinStar Casino. I filled up with the 91 Octane with no Ethanol, only took 3 gals so I don't think the Octane will make any difference. But it sure felt good to get gasoline with no alcohol. It seems the no alcohol gas is fairly easy to find in Oklahoma but not here in Texas.

I'll take the ethanol free fuel over a little octane any day. I've run all grade of fuel thru my roadglide and really haven't had any problems. Stay with mid grade up though and look for ethanol free fuel.

I've run both for long periods of time, I found very little difference in performance or mileage. Non ethanol is probably better for your engine but I found it not to be worth the added cost.

The 10% Ethanol is added to the fuel is what makes it 93octane. Ethanol will increase octane in fuel. Only because of its characteristics so it is a false sense of security that you would be getting 93octane + 10% ethanol.

I try to find the highest rated octane I can find without Ethanol. But if that's not possible by the gas you can and add octane booster with Ethanol stabilizer in it so Ethanol does not break down from the fuel.

In reference to the added cost of non Ethanol fuel. For a 6 gallon tank you're talking about maybe an extra dollar to fill up.

No such choice here in crematoria....I stick with Shell or Chevron and it's all mixed with something.....it burns so I'm good.

I can get non-ethanol 91 locally but have a hard time finding it away from home. If it was readily available everywhere I'd do it. Since its not I just go with the 93 octane and an additive at every fill up. I just don't like the idea of switching back and forth (no reason why and it probably doesn't hurt anything, I just don't do it).
