I have a 2011 Ultra with 17,000 miles. Lately I have noticed some play in the drivetrain when I decelerate and accelerate. For example, if I'm going down the highway at 50 mph and let off the throttle rapidly, it will clunk or bang and when I accelerate hard right away, it will clunk or bang again. It feels like slack somewhere. The clutch seems fine. Any ideas?
there has been some comment that the late model auto adjuster is crap- I've had no problem with mine so I can't comment from personal experience.
on my old Evo's primary chain tension was adjusted manually about every 5000 miles or when problems showed up..such as snatching and grabbing at low speed ( parking lots), trouble finding neutral and downshifting and as described above, slack in the drivetrain.
The Hayden M6 spring tensioner was about the best $80 spent on the evos- they make a similar device for the twin cams.
