2009 streetglide with 21k on it. It has been feeling squirrelly in the front end all spring. Finally raised the bike up this weekend and the front wheel was wobbling. Wheel bearing on right was shot! It wiggled all around. I took the wheel down to the local dealer and they replaced the bearings while I waited. Much appreciated. Reinstalled and it rides awesome again. I've heard of others who have had bad bearings also. Just thought I'd throw this out there to ponder. I was beginning to think that I was losing my riding skill.
i wish somebody would come up with a way to the earlier style timken bearing in the wheels, like the ones from 92 on with the shims so you can set up your end play.
I am cosidering going back to the double row 1" bearings. They will be too wide and stick out of the wheel somewhat, but turning down the length of the spacers should take care of that.
09 had issues with both front wheel bearings and front tires cracking. There may have been a recall or service bulletin published on them.

Right front bearing failed at 13,000 miles. (09 Road King) I replaced front and rear bearings and tires at the same time. I inspected the 3 old "good" bearings afterwards and only 1 had a marginal amount of grease in it. I replaced them with SKF 6205-2RSJ AMERICAN MADE bearings. If these don't last I'd have to assume a design flaw and possibly change the wheels?
2 little itty bitty bearings per wheel, and they're not even serviceable! It's a shame!
BTW - there was no recall on the 09's for wheels, bearings or tires
In any case, if you're willing to take the front wheel and old bearing into a bearing store (they really do exist, and are right common in large city areas), they can probably figure out a bearing that will work much better. If you have a Timkin dealer, so much the better.
Mine on my 04 RK are spinning just fine, but if they finally need replacement, I'll likely go up to my local Timkin store myself.
I bought and installed a set of 09 SG takeoffs on my Classic, which had about 100 miles on them per the previous owner. After about 1500 miles I put the Agitator on my bike, and the front bearings in the SG wheels were shot. I really didn't notice while riding, but once the wheel was off the ground, and I spun it, it had a couple of nasty "catches" in it. It couldn't do a full revolution on its own.
The new wheels require bearing swap and all, so that took care of that.
