Not sure if you can tell in this pic, but when I fold mine up, they are very close to the crash bar and blend in nicely with it. I use HD's short angled mount. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics with them folded up.

I could never see why people have their pegs mounted so high on the crash bars that they look like they are sitting in a gynecologist chair.

I mounted mine low, where my legs stretch out comfortably.
They look a little low, but have never had scraping problems yet.
They fold up enough so they don't stick out at all when not in use.
I fold them in if I'm on the twisty's.
I've tried mounts higher up on the crashbars, but it always felt very uncomfortable to me. I tried moving them around to various positions,
but ended up just placing my legs where they were the most comfortable and adjusting the mounts to that position.

I have the Kury long arm cruise bars with switchblade pegs on my '07 FLHR, wouldn't have another bike without them. Your heel can rest on the board and feet on the pegs or just on the peg with or without the switchblade heel rest out, or rest your legs out on top of the pegs. Many comfortable positions, they do have little replaceable "feelers" for lean angle, been using mine for about 5 years, never a worry. Pics in my garage.

HD long arm mounts with Streamliner pegs, set to the same height as the brake pedal. It's a b*tch to get the other side set the same though.

Mine were a great addition. Makes the bike more comfortable. Mine are line up so when they are raised up, they are lined up with the crash bars and don't stick out. The chrome all blends in and looks good. I'm so used to seeing touring bikes with pegs, it's odd seeing one without them.
