Tonight I noticed my headlight was out but the hi beams work. Normally I would think it is simply a bulb out but last week I was jiggling wires around when I installed my scorpio anti theft. Could it be a wire that only affects low beams or is it a headlight that needs replacing?
Journeyman, two separate filaments yes, but would the wiring be two separate wires to the bulb. I guess my question is, since its just low beams out but high work, does that rule out a wire connection that I might have jiggled loose when I installed the security system. If its a bulb I can easily go get and replace.
There is a 3 wire connector to the bulb.
One is ground, one is low, the other high. Each independant of each other. The low is always the first to go. Nice to know you have the high beam as a back up, especially when moving.
When you pull the bulb and look you will know if it's bad. Probably is. As MK says , fairing has to come off.

I would try the bulb first, much easier than opening the fairing to check wiring to find out it was just a bulb and there was no need to open the fairing.

Even easier to have your neighbor check his bulb... but eventually you'll need to take the fairing off to check yours.
Yep, trim ring comes off with one screw, headlight comes out with a few screws, pull the plug and it's sitting in your lap. The wires are easily accessible with the headlight out also...
