Headlight issue
Tonight I noticed my headlight was out but the hi beams work. Normally I would think it is simply a bulb out but last week I was jiggling wires around when I installed my scorpio anti theft. Could it be a wire that only affects low beams or is it a headlight that needs replacing?

It could be either... get a spare bulb.
many of us buy our bulbs at the auto parts store...in a 2- pak.
that way you'll have a spare in the garage or saddlebag.
when you open up the fairing, throw a spare bulb in, if it works..then jiggle the wiring some...if it still works then there is the answer.
some States allow high beam in daytime- this will equalize the wear on the 2 filaments.

Thank guys,
Journeyman, two separate filaments yes, but would the wiring be two separate wires to the bulb. I guess my question is, since its just low beams out but high work, does that rule out a wire connection that I might have jiggled loose when I installed the security system. If its a bulb I can easily go get and replace.
Thanks again.

...either way you are opening the fairing up- see my previous response
( the lamp is most easily replaced by opening the fairing, rather than taking off the trim ring and removing the bucket)
oh and do NOT touch the bulb with your bare hands- it must be clean, use a paper towel or clean cloth to handle any bulbs

There is a 3 wire connector to the bulb.
One is ground, one is low, the other high. Each independant of each other. The low is always the first to go. Nice to know you have the high beam as a back up, especially when moving.
When you pull the bulb and look you will know if it's bad. Probably is. As MK says , fairing has to come off.

I would try the bulb first, much easier than opening the fairing to check wiring to find out it was just a bulb and there was no need to open the fairing.

Not sure what your getting at? There is no need to take the fairing apart to get to the headlight bulb on a Street Glide.
Yep, trim ring comes off with one screw, headlight comes out with a few screws, pull the plug and it's sitting in your lap. The wires are easily accessible with the headlight out also...
