Oil Temp Gauge Reading 110F

So you guys with these gages, what are the highest temps you are seeing and at what point do you get concerned and what do you do about it? Just curious, I've got gages in my truck and I know when I push my trans flluid (mobil 1 synthetic) up towards 220F it's time to pull over and cool it for awhile so with an air cooled engine, I guess you just have to do the same.

Have the gauge in the air temp gauge spot. Have the fuel moto 107 kit. With cruise on 75 in 95 degree temps gauge reads around 235 - 245. In stop and go during the same trip didn't go up past 250. Cools right off when moving or stop. Cools off 50 degrees when stopped for around 15 minutes in 95 degree heat. As long as there is oil pressure I am not stopping.

I'm going to go with 50/50. If you take your time and follow the directions you'll be fine. The forums always have helpful tips, but depending on your bike of course those can vary. Hardest part for me was the lack of clearance/room to work inside the fairing. If you have large hands it's frustrating trying to reinstall the new gauge and get that plastic mounting bracket screwed back on. It's funny how that can be--the major part of the install that you think will be hard isn't, it's the "little" things that are. The least intuitive part of the whole thing ended up being trying to figure out where to plug the wiring harness in at the gauge end of it. There is a connection point at the steering head on the lower left of the head (left from a seated position) where the stock ambient air temp gauge physically attached to the frame itself. The instructions just barely mention that as being "position 107." In some posts, depending on the year of your bike, the position 107 connector is "buried" up and behind the speedo/tach units. On my 09 it's plugged into the steering head. Just do a little research before you start. Oh and you don't have to drain your oil to do this--just pre-assemble the sending unit and quickly screw it back into opening where they have you remove the existing plug. I lost maybe a tablespoon of oil. Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions on it. Save a bunch of $$ and get an Autometer 2639 for around $50 on EBAY. Comes with the sensor and bushings. Just add some 18 ga wire, shrink tubing, and a spade terminal.
