Mine doesn't rattle, but not everything is perfect, a small rubber or nylon washer under the nut maybe?

It is just a replacement for the key lock on the fuel door.
Instead of a key, it is just a push button.

Have had one on my Street Glide for 2 1/2 years and no issues.

30 bucks to avoid taking your key out of your pocket? I guess I don't see it as that much of a hassle.

That is why they are called accessories.
There is a whole catalog full of parts that are not actually needed by anyone.
But yet they sell very well.

I am sure everyone has at least one, and very likely more "accessories" on their bike that someone else might think is silly or not needed.

To a lot of people spending $30 or $40 on something is just pocket change.

This subject pops up here now and then, it seems about 50/50 on the ones that rattle. Before you try the different fixes other posters have tried (grease seems to work best), take it back to the dealer and see if they will trade it. It's personally one of my favorite mods.

Mine doesn't rattle. Installed about 500 miles ago.

It's more than an accessory for me. I'm bound to forget my keys at some point and be locked out of my own damn fill hole. Then with level 10 rage I'd pry the bastard open with brute force, ruining the console & door.

So this $27 investment is saving me a **** load of frustration and some greenbacks to boot.
