Mine doesn't rattle, it's the combo model that still locks, but can be left unlocked. Mine is really hard to release - the flush button makes it hard to push down hard enough to release, have to use the very end of my index finger nail to push down far enough. Still easier than fishing keys outa the jeans pocket with gloves on (fingerless ones even)..
I put mine on in 2008 which was about 45,000 miles ago. No rattle, no problems. I guess I was one of the lucky ones.
I do remember standing beside a buddy at a gas pump one day when he couldn't seem to dig his key out of his pocket. Even though I had the push button installed, my key was handy and I opened his gas cap for him.
He ranted and raved that my key opened his tank. He thought his key was the only one that would open is gas tank cover.
30 bucks to avoid taking your key out of your pocket? I guess I don't see it as that much of a hassle.
do a search on here on the subject , seems the locking ones fail and you can't get gas , not really a security thing any way , any barrel key will open them
I see someone needs louder pipes. My bike came with one and it does not rattle. Re-check installation or take it back for a refund. These soft metal accessories, probably made in China, is worthless at times.
Mine rattles also. I found this thread when I did a search tonight trying to see if anyone else has this problem. Mine is so loud, I can hear it at 80mph over the wind, pipes, and radio.
