I'm 6'1". On my SG, I have fork shields (black) and switch between either a KW 6.5 Flare or a LRS 7" windshield with no buffeting. (one is really dark so i take it off for dusk/night riding)

As somebody else previously mentioned, i can have a smoke doing 80mph if i want. I wouldn't say this is the ultimate test, but I think it does say something.

Are you sure your head is buffeting or is it just your glasses?

EG that the previous owner set up like a SG

5'9" tall
6.5" Klockwerks
Fairing deflector vents

Still had my glasses jumping around a little.

Switched to goggles and that took care of it.

Switched back to a better set of glasses and bandanna. Smooth sailing now.

Is it just me or do those curved fork wind deflectors look like hospital bed stirrups?

Eliminating totally is impossible regardless how much more crap you can bolt on, wind between gas tank and fairing will always be there to annoy you and that some thing you just have to live with and get used to it after all you are on a Harley few sacrifices are required.

This is what works for me, I'm 5'11".

LRS 8" re-curved shield,
Fairing wind deflectors,
Elephant ears,
Factory fork baffle under the lower triple, and
Fork wind deflectors.

No buffeting for me

cheers

I'm 5-10, 30 inch in seam. I use an 8" LRS ultra wind screen, and lower fairing deflectors. I look over the screen and if I hold my hand at my head, I can't feel the wind till it is over the visor of my helmet. If my legs are by the tank, I get NO wind at all. Relax out the knees and I feel the breeze. Noting to shake the glasses, just a nice wind in the face. I'm on a bike. I should feel some wind. Felt a lot more on my last bike with out a screen

I don't have the goofy looking wind deflectors that bolt on the forks but I do have everything else and still have "buffeting". If you have a SG, while riding down the road put your hand to toward the the front of the tank on the side of it and there is where you will feel a majority of all the wind that causes the buffetting. Sit in a position where your feet are flat on the floor boards and it's reduced. Stretch your legs out and it's increased. I have the stock windshield and air flows right over my head. So my advice to a fellow SG owner who is bothered by the buffeting: Spend a lot of money to reduce it, put on some of those fork things based on other peoples experience, get used to it, or get an Ultra or something.
The fork baffle dish looking thing did very little if anything.
The adjustable air deflectors that go on the fairing come in handy in directing air to you on those very hot days.
Lower fairings are handy for storing stuff or adding speakers but doesn't block all the air causing the buffeting and blocks air that would otherwise cool your right leg (hamstring area) so be prepared to also add the mid frame air/heat deflectors. These probably reduced buffeting by 75% for a total of 76%.

Buy the lower fork wind deflectors first ....... There at your local dealer .....cheap fix...... Ugly??? You gotta be looking for them to notice them. As Forrest Gump says. "Thats all i got to say about that"

I reduced mine 75% of mine with the:

Chrome front fork air baffle
Fairing air deflectors
10" HD Windsplitter screen

I live with the rest. Rode an EG at a demo day with the tall stock screen. No buffeting.

Rigid air deflectors on each side of Batwing help as well as a lower air deflector that mounts on back of the lower triple tree. A taller windshield won't help.

Fork deflectors will do more for you than the windshield...I have a 6.5" Clearview Recurve windshield on mine and the Fork Deflectors....some think they are butt ugly, personnally I like them..... www.street-glide.com is where I got mine from....this is the second street glide I have put them on and i am convinced this is the way to stop the buffeting you are describing.......you will still get wind, but it will not beat/bounce your head around.

You can see them mounted on my bike in these pics

The chrome front fork air baffle that you can get from Harley will also help some more with this.
