The California Air Resources Board fined Tucker Rocky Distributing and Biker's Choice $500,000 for violations of air quality laws because they advertised and sold aftermarket parts for highway motorcycles that replaced original "emissions-critical" components, such as catalytic converters. http://www.sacbee.com/2013/08/05/562...ard-fines.html
Sounds like the beginning of the end for after market parts in Ca. I think every motor vehicle amnufacturere should stop selling in California until the citizens throw out the idiots in Sac.
that was the 2010 regs that came in ( 2009 in CA.), owners should be aware that "tampering" is a potential real problem if they decide to inspect or enforce
( one of the reasons I chose an 09 in 2010)
the vendors had a few years notice of the changes, and they roll the dice...
I have wondered for the last 5 years when the other shoe was going to drop on these vendors who clearly scam the clean air act by sticking a label on their product or putting a disclaimer on their web site that their products are "intended to be used for off road purposes only". When the states start to enforce some of the air laws that have been on the books for years you will see vendors start to dry up faster than an old woman ovaries. Just wait until they start to stick a sniffer up your pipes when you go to get an inspection sticker or hold a decibel meter behind you when you rev up your bike. Oh ya, that will be real interesting for sure. People will start squealing like a pig under a gate. Manufacturers have felt the governments green wienie for several years now. Next it will be the riders turn.
glad i am an old phart and live in texas...by the time they get around to enacting strict laws in texas, i will be dead or too old to ride. shame on you clowns in california for ever letting it get that far out...your elected idiots will be giving our elected idiots ideas soon enough!
