Default THANKS for this info

DOCH4M-
Thanks for the detail of this post. I am feel somewhat comfortable with a wrench, but am a bit nervous of new territory.

I had the same trouble, followed your directions, and fixed all the troubles. Includeing all the seals, gaskets, and the ever so important stator.

Just know you helped out a fellow rider huge. I will be sure and "Pay it forward" as they say-

Honestly, Thank you-

Good Luck. hope it is an easy fix,

This is going to be the answer. Might be wrong but I believe he is correct.

Just a heads up...if anyone else looking at this is in need of a stator replacement and not good with a wrench, I just had mine done at the dealer and the total was just over $500

Stator itself was around $160 and the rest was about 4 hrs labor and miscellaneous bits like gaskets, fluid and hardware....and tax of course.

This is an awesome pictoral dude! My shop floor looks just like yours right now! Oh yeah, th Skynyrd reference was right on too. I had read that you would know if the stator was blown by the smell, damn right. Mine is definately smelly, even though I haven't gotten to the the stator yet. Thank you for all the tips and information, I feel confident now that I can do the job. One more thing, about the dirty Harley. I RIDE my bike almost daily, wash it almost weekly, if someone got offended they aint doin too much ridin. Hell, I think a dirty Harley is a road worthy Harley. My two cents. Thanks again, I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks to the other guys post I recieved too!
