OK friends, just wanted to put this out one more time before I commit, I found a 2000 Road King Classic with some decent extras. Crash bars, chrome floorboards, fishtails (to come off I think), backrest for driver and passenger, luggage rack. It's fuel injected. The bike has 7,000 miles on it and supposedly maintained well. It's not exactly pristine, shed kept but not garage kept. I think with a good detailing everything will clean and polish up well. We settled on 11,000.00. Is this a good price? It seems to be lower than what I'm seeing in various places.
I just purchased a 2000 road king classic with 6000 milesfor 11,500. Only extra I got was loud pipes, backrest and luggage rack. Ithink I got a pretty good deal. However, I did a lot of research and learned that the early production 2000'sdid indeed have a cam bearing issue. HD apparenty fixed this issue in the later 2000 bikes. I had the dealer look mine up. Mine is from a later 2000 production run. I also dug up the service history on my bike. I think the deal you described isa good one. Or, maybe we are both getting screwed. I would like to know what other, more experienced, harley owners have to say about it.
Good price for sure , 11 grand for a injected king , as Retired Ted said make sure the cam bearings have been changed. Not sure if it was a recall but 2000 was the first year of the twin cam and had a few minor problems they worked out.
Good luck with your purchase.
It is not a good price but it is not a bad price either. Check out www.bikerbill.com He is a friend of mine and specializes in good priced used HDs. You can get an idea of prices from his web site. He also ships if you are interested.
